Experience
Jessica Choate is an Associate in our firm’s litigation section. Before joining the firm, Jessica worked as Law Clerk to the Honorable Christie A. Leary at Fairfax County Circuit Court. As a law clerk, Jessica drafted legal opinions and conducted legal research to prepare Judge Leary for all civil motions heard in her courtroom.
Jessica graduated magna cum laude from George Mason University. During law school, Jessica was Senior Articles Editor of the George Mason Civil Rights Law Journal, leading a team of editors to edit all scholarly articles published by the journal. Jessica also served as President of George Mason Pro Bono Society, where she re-started the law school’s annual fundraising auction, raising $19,000 for student scholarships. In 2022, the Virginia State Bar awarded Jessica with the Oliver White Hill Law Student Pro Bono Award for her dedication to public service and pro bono work.
Jessica won Emory’s Civil Rights Moot Court Competition in 2022. Jessica also served as President of George Mason’s Inn of Court, which allowed her to start developing connections with practicing attorneys in Northern Virginia during law school.
Before starting law school, Jessica served two terms in AmeriCorps in Cincinnati, OH. During her tenure in AmeriCorps, she taught community members their rights and responsibilities as tenants, assisted with landlord/tenant disputes, and helped connect families with numerous community services. Jessica handles civil legal disputes for business and individuals, including claims and defenses in contract actions, real estate cases, estate litigation and will disputes, and other various civil matters. Jessica is admitted to practice law in all Virginia courts and focuses her practice area in Northern Virginia.
