Experience

​​

Leonard C. Tengco is an associate in the firm. Leonard has extensive in all aspects of real estate litigation matters including real estate fraud, contract disputes, title litigation, easement disputes, partition actions, and trespass claims. He also has experience defending and pursuing claims on behalf of secured creditors, investors, loan servicers, trustees, property managers and landlords, title agencies, law firms, and attorneys in contested foreclosure actions and real estate disputes throughout Virginia. Before focusing primarily on litigation in real estate and civil disputes, Leonard served as the sole law clerk for all five judges of the 3rd Judicial Circuit of Virginia, Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Portsmouth, and Assistant Appellate Defender in Richmond. Leonard is also one of less than 40 legal professionals in Virginia designated by the U.S. Green Building Council as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional.  

 

Leonard is committed to public service and working in the community. In 2012, Leonard was elected to the School Board of the City of Virginia Beach (District 1-Centerville) with 54.66% (73,795 votes) of the electorate and served a four-year term. In 2016, Governor Terry McAuliffe appointed Leonard to serve on the Virginia Asian Advisory Board and was later reappointed by Governor Ralph Northam to serve a two-year term that recently concluded. In 2020, Governor Northam appointed Leonard to serve a five-year term as a board member of the Library Board of Virginia. Leonard is an active member of the Vienna Rotary Club. 

 

Leonard was recognized by Virginia Business Magazine’s Legal Elite in for Civil Litigation in 2019 and Real Estate Law in 2020. Leonard was also selected to the 2019 and 2020 list of Virginia Rising Stars in Real Estate Law by Super Lawyers Magazine.
