Experience

Janna is a partner in the Firm with three main areas of focus: real estate matters, trust and estate planning, and contract law and entity formation. She believes that strong relationships drive growth, while proper planning provides security. It is this relationship-intensive approach that results in the most productive and successful outcomes for her clients.

Prior to joining the firm, Janna worked as a settlement attorney and for two well-respected title agencies serving Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. As a result, Janna is a subject matter expert in the regional differences among the three jurisdictions. She takes great pride in ensuring that her real estate clients have a complete understanding of their transaction and the important documents being executed. She also serves as a valuable resource by providing legal insight and assistance as their transactions move towards closing.

Trust and estate planning is exceptionally personal to Janna. She is adept at putting clients at
ease, while delving into the various what-if scenarios that arise with a client’s plans for their
estate and their life. Through thoughtful meetings, she carefully creates the documents that put
those plans in place. She believes deeply in the importance of estate planning so that no one is left guessing, especially in the midst of grief. That plan and those documents are the final gift to those left behind.

For businesses, choosing the type of entity that best serves clients’ needs is critical. From
liability protection and tax consequences, it is important to get things right from the beginning.
Later, having a contract that reflects the agreed upon terms and achieves a client’s goals can
mean the difference between long-term success or a deal that has devastating financial
consequences. Janna is effective in thinking through the options, and drafting documents that
serve and reflect her clients’ needs.
